The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious death on Sauvie Island.

On Monday, February 17, 2025, at approximately 1:15 p.m., deputies responded to a report of suspicious circumstances in the 15200 block of NW Gillihan Road. When deputies arrived, they discovered a human body on the bank of the Willamette River.

The East County Major Crimes Team was activated and began a death investigation. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the body, and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the person's identity, as well as the cause and manner of death. Additional details will be released as findings are confirmed.

The Sheriff's Office and the East County Major Crimes Team are working diligently to determine what happened. At this time, investigators do not believe there is any danger to the public.
