Established in 1854, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office has proudly served the community for 170 years. Sadly, that service has come with a heavy price. Over the course of its history, ten deputies of the Sheriff’s Office have lost their lives protecting this community. They performed their duties while paying the ultimate sacrifice. This page serves as a way for us to honor the memory of these men, and as a reminder of the real dangers faced everyday by law enforcement professionals all across our nation and in our own community.
These heroes are memorialized at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C., the State of Oregon Law Enforcement Memorial in Salem, and the Sheriff’s Office Memorial Stone in Troutdale.
Each May, during National Police Week, the Sheriff’s Office honors the service and sacrifice these men paid and remembers the loved ones they left behind.
