The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of K-9 Deputy Rudy, who became suddenly ill on Friday, June 14 from an unexpected, rare, and unpreventable condition. Despite emergency treatment and his characteristic determination, Rudy lost his battle and died early on Saturday morning, June 15, with his devoted MCSO handler by his side.

Rudy was a four-year-old German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mixed breed, born on September 11, 2019. K-9 Deputy Rudy excelled at tracking in some of the most challenging conditions. What made K-9 Rudy really special was his dynamic personality of not only being a serious K-9, but also a very social and fun member of our Patrol Unit family. Rest easy, K-9 Rudy.
